Please notice in advance that some words used in this article may not be the same as in other countries version.

1. What is "e-MINI CHALLENGE®"?

The "e-MINI CHALLENGE®" is a new motorsport event holding in virtual instead of real, by assorting the Classic MINI with e-Sports. To be more specific, it is a Classic MINI one-make race which takes place in virtual, using the game "Gran Turismo SPORT", also known as a real driving simulator.
The project started in august 2019 at the "Classic MINI Festival 2019", one of the biggest Classic MINI event in Japan, and several races were held at the "Trial Series" until now.

On March 13th 2020, the "e-MINI CHALLENGE® 2020 Season"(a new series holding during the whole year) has started.
Try and join us in virtual with the newest motorsport event!

2. What do I need to participate?
Basic Set:
 ・PlayStation4(video game console)
 ・Gran Turismo SPORT(game soft)
 ・PlayStation Plus Subscription(Paid-for online service)

The 3 items above are the basic set for participating the e-MINI CHALLENGE®.
Plus, an internet environment (wired network recommended) and a display with an HDMI port is needed.

The e-MINI CHALLENGE® is held in the game Gran Turismo SPORT, so buying the game platform and soft is a must to participate the race. It also uses the online multiplayer game system, so an internet environment and subscribing to the PlayStation Plus service is needed.

■ The longest membership plan is the cheapest

The basic PlayStation Plus payment plan is £6.99($9.99 or  €8.99)/month, but a 3month/ 12month plan are also in store, which are much more economical than the 1month plan. Choose the best plan according to your game schedule.

3. After the installing

Unfortunately, you cannot buy/drive your MINI just by installing the game.
As in real life, you will need some "Credits" to buy your favorite car in the game: for example, the Mini-Cooper 'S' '65 costs
Cr. 5,000,000-. You can earn Credits from Online races, accomplishing missions, reaching achievements, etc...

■Check the Driving School first

For beginners which has just started the game, we recommend you to check first the Driving School missions.
This game has no tutorial, but this School teaches all the techniques you need to know for enjoying the game. Plus, Bonus cars and Credits are given when accomplishing missions, which is a must for buying your own MINI.

4. Buy your Mini-Cooper 'S' '65

If you have earned enough Credits, go and check the Brand Central to buy your MINI.
Choose the "Brand Central" from the menu on the top of the screen, then search the MINI brand in the Europe category. All cars that you can purchase are in the showroom, which you can find the "Mini-Cooper 'S' '65". The price is Cr. 5,000,000-, with 7 body color choise. You can also change its color at the "Livery Edittor", so buy the one you want for the moment. If you have finished your purchasing, check at the "Home" (from the Top Screen) your brand new car.

■Customize your vehicle

Every car you have owned has its "Car Settings", that can be tuned as you wish. Individual settings is possible for each items, such as the power ratio, the weight, the brake balance or the transmission (and more). Almost tuning items are unloked from the start, but the "Power Ratio" and "Weight reduction Ratio" has a Level limitation, which can be unlocked with some "Mileage points". We recommend you to unlock these items first, at the same time as your shopping: it is not that expensive, and you probably have earned enough points while you will be able to buy your own MINI.

5. Drive in virtual as in real

Gran Turismo SPORT is known as a "real driving simulator": not only the graphic's quality, but also details of cars and courses included in the game are made to be extremely similar to the reality. We introduce here some advice that might help you to have an agreeable (virtual) car life and make your game experience more realistic.

■ Livery Editor

The "Livery Editor" allows you to dress-up your car, racing suit and helmet.
Unfortunately you cannot change the car's shape itself, but the body colour and stickers can be customized as you wish. Many shapes and brand stickers pre-installed are already availalble in the "Decal" line-up. Also, thanks to the "Decal Uploader " at the Gran Turismo Official website, you can create your original Decal and share it to other players.

You will be then able to race your real MINI at the circuit, or drive your favourite racing MINI as you wish.

■ Steering Controller

A steering controller is, as you can imagine, a gaming controller with the shape of a steering wheel (and its accessories), made for race game like Gran Turismo. Using this controller, your game experience will be much more comfortable and similar to the real driving. Many types of Steering Controllers are available on the market: the most expensive one let you feel the course's unevenness, and the immersive feeling will be then exceptional too.

At the Classic Mini Festival 2019 (32fes2019), where the first e-MINI CHALLENGE® took place, all the players showed their best performance using the ultimate Thrustmaster Steering Controller made for Gran Turismo SPORT, sitting in a bucket Seat just like in real car.

Items used at the 32fes2019:

    Steering Controller >>> Thrustmaster T-GT
